A Greater Year for Sexual and Reproductive Rights
By Laura McQuade, President & CEO, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York
In 2019, we proved that we are stronger together. We saw this through our many legislative victories here in New York State, through the activism of New Yorkers fighting for climate justice, social justice, and reproductive rights. We also saw this through the outpouring of support for Planned Parenthood by patients, celebrity supporters, and local and national businesses. It is with this same tenacity that we move into 2020 as Planned Parenthood of Greater New York.
By bringing together Planned Parenthood affiliates in New York City, Nassau County, Mid-Hudson Valley, Mohawk Hudson, and the Southern Finger Lakes, we are strengthening our ability to serve more New Yorkers across the state. As five individual affiliates, we were forces to be reckoned with, but as one expansive and unified network, we will be unstoppable.
Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is re-imagining the future of health care by increasing access to our gold standard services and innovative programs. This year, we will double our fleet of mobile health units to provide much-needed wellness exams and preventative care to underserved communities. Services like our award-winning gender-affirming hormone therapy will be offered at more centers across the state and will continue to be a safe and affordable way for non-binary and transgender New Yorkers to take the next step in their journey. And while other states are enacting dangerous abortion bans, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York will serve as a beacon for abortion rights for all New Yorkers and people across the country who need access to the full spectrum of health care. And make no mistake — abortion is health care. PPGNY represents the bold future of sexual and reproductive health — one that is free of stigma, fear, and barriers to care.
Typically, change can be scary. But in this case, I am invigorated. Planned Parenthood of Greater New York has one objective: to better serve you. We will continue to be the health care provider you know and trust with added benefits, more resources and a greater network of expertise.
We are building the future together.
