Celebrate Independence Day by Taking Control of Your Repro Health
With reproductive rights under attack nationwide and a humanitarian crisis at the southern border, it can feel difficult to find a cause worth celebrating this July 4th.
But one way you can celebrate is by asserting your own independence.
Bodily autonomy is freedom. Reproductive justice is freedom. At Planned Parenthood of New York City, we’re committed to these fights for freedom, and to our patients. And one way you can contribute to the fight for reproductive justice is by taking control of your body’s health.
Birth control is one way many people take control of their reproductive futures — when we can decide how and when we become pregnant, we are better able to exert our own independence and chase our dreams. At PPNYC, we offer all 18 forms of birth control and our expert clinicians can answer all your questions to figure out which one is right for you.
Have you had a wellness visit recently? If you have a vulva, breasts and/or uteri, it might be a good idea to book an appointment for one. It’s recommended that people have their first wellness visit around age 13–15, and continue with varying frequency throughout adolescence and adulthood, depending on your individual healthcare needs. PPNYC offers wellness visits for people of all genders.
PPNYC also offers PrEP, a daily pill that can help prevent the transmission of HIV, as well as PEP, a pill that is taken to lower the chance of getting HIV after an incident of exposure.
We also offer gender affirming hormone therapy for transgender and gender nonconforming patients using an informed consent model. We can help you learn about hormone therapy and see if it’s the right decision.
These are just a few of the health care services we provide. PPNYC accepts most private insurance, and also operates on a sliding-scale basis for patients who are uninsured or otherwise unable to pay for services, because to us, reproductive justice means reproductive health care for all.
Whatever happens in Washington, one thing is for certain: Planned Parenthood’s doors stay open, no matter what.
You can book an appointment online TODAY at www.ppnyc.org.
We can’t wait to take care of you and support you in your own independence!
