For over 30 years, Project Street Beat has been on the streets and in our communities providing compassionate, expert health care to New Yorkers in need. On this World AIDS Day, we’re so proud to look back at how far we’ve come, and highlight the work that must be continued.

We believe that no matter who you are or what your story is, you deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Our approach is patient centered, and we focus on reaching those who have faced historic barriers to health care. Our mobile health center is out in the streets five days a week, day and night, offering everything from STI testing and treatment to PrEP, PEP, harm reduction counseling, and more.

What began as a small community health initiative in the 1980s in the Bronx to bring HIV testing to the borough has expanded to a robust program featuring multiple mobile health centers and available services. We now also serve upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, and parts of Queens.

Our trusted community advisory board, expert clinicians, case managers, and HIV specialists ensure that we continue to meet our patients’ needs, whatever they may be.

What hasn’t changed in all these years is our commitment to our community and our belief that everyone deserves health care that meets them where they are — free from judgement or stigma.

We’re so proud to have supported thousands of New Yorkers since we began doing HIV testing in the Bronx so many years ago.

As we look to the future, and the next 30 years, we know our community needs us today more than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing barriers to health care, and marginalized communities are experiencing more strain and difficulty.

We understand this, and we’re here — providing the care you love and trust on the streets of New York every day.

Care no matter what. Care no matter where.

That’s Project Street Beat.
