The health, safety, and well-being of our patients, staff, and communities are Planned Parenthood of Greater New York’s top priority. PPGNY is closely monitoring the impact of the coronavirus and continuously evaluating our plans and protocols. You can stay updated on social media and at www.ppgreaterny.org.

Here’s how we’re responding:

  • Keeping our doors open: We’re continuing to see patients at our health centers and are continuing to provide all services, including essential abortion care. In this moment, continuing to provide high-quality health care to anyone who needs it is critical.
  • Protecting staff and patients: We have appropriate screening precautions in place at all health centers. These are in line with CDC and New York State Department of Health recommendations. We are also only allowing patients in our health centers (no guests) to reduce the risk for everyone.
  • Doing our part to flatten the curve: Staff who are able to telecommute are now required to. This helps reduce the number of people in public places and our locations, reducing the risk for everyone.
  • Limiting public gatherings: We have canceled our Training Institute trainings through April to comply with CDC recommendations to limit large gatherings. In addition, we have made the difficult decision to cancel several major fundraising events through mid-May. Here are the events that are cancelled at this time: Poughkeepsie Spring Gala on April 2, New York City Spring Gala on April 22, and our Nassau County Spring Gala on May 1
  • Supporting PPGNY staff: To support essential staff who cannot telecommute and who are sick or need to be quarantined, are taking care of someone with a COVID-19-related illness or are facing childcare challenges, additional paid leave is provided.

How you can help:

PPGNY is acutely aware that this health crisis disproportionately affects some communities more than others and we are dedicated to ensuring our most vulnerable populations (low income, poor, houseless and medically vulnerable communities) are at the center of our planning and services. We have also been disheartened to witness the anti-Asian racism and xenophobic incidents in the city. We fully denounce these behaviors and commit to ensuring all are welcome here.
